Welcome to the NWSEO Recruitment Page. We hope that you find this a helpful resource as we work together to keep our union strong and effective.
Thank you for your dedication and the work that you do for NWSEO. As NOAA focuses on funding satellites at the cost of NWS programs and positions; NWSEO is working to avoid NWS furloughs, save the ITO position, and keep the NWS fully funded in the FY14 budget battle. We need your help.
As you know, membership is the lifeblood or our organization. As a member, you are in a very effective position to help increase NWSEO membership and keep our Professional Organization strong. We are distributing a recruitment letter to all NWS non-members to inform them of the work NWSEO is currently involved in to help save jobs and programs - to forward the life-saving mission of the National Weather Service. The letter includes links and information to NWSEO’s work and successes, both past and present.
We wanted to supply you with the tools, information, and ideas to help with this effort. Your words and actions as a NWSEO member can help support our cause. This page is designed to do just that.
Here, you will find speaking points and recruiting tips. We have also included NWSEO’s Top Five Year Achievements and the 1187 form to join. The documents are all in a printable format to easily provide information of anyone interested in joining NWSEO.
Once someone joins the union, they recognize the value and strength of NWS employees working together for a cause, and often become members for life. Because of this, NWSEO offers the following recruitment incentive to our members: If you recruit two new members to join NWSEO between November 14, 2012 and July 31, 2013, your convention-related hotel stay and reasonable travel expenses to the National Convention in St. Petersburg, Florida this year will be covered by NWSEO. Please be sure to tell new members to write your name on their SF1187 when they join to give you the recruitment credit.
NWSEO is the only organization with the ability to lobby Congress and the Administration to preserve NWS jobs, promote better working conditions and career promotions for NWS, and participate in collective bargaining.
As always, thank you for your support and dedication.
Fraternally,
Dan Sobien
NWSEO President

Speaking Points - Why Should I Join NWSEO?
Recruitment is an ongoing process; it is a matter of constantly thinking about new ways to convince your co-workers to join NWSEO. While most of us are not born “salesmen,” it’s good to keep in mind that if you sincerely believe in something, if you can share your enthusiasm for the work NWSEO accomplishes, if you keep reminding others of NWSEO achievements as they happen you’re more likely to get positive results. The key is to let prospective members know how NWSEO membership is benefits them.
